Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) trial operation has started on the expressways of east China's Zhejiang, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Anhui, Jiangxi and Fujian. All the ETC vehicles that have updated the electronic label information can travel smoothly in Yangtze River Delta without longer stop for manual toll, reports Xinhua.

Under unified arrangement, the updating of electronic label information finished last week. It is learned from Ningbo expressway toll gate equipped with ETC service that a total of 1,250 vehicles in Zhejiang province need to update the labels, while there are still over 400 cars left not updated.

Figures show that ETC has already got 14,000 users, with over 9,000 individual users and 5,000 unit users. 24 out of 33 Ningbo expressway toll stations have set up ETC, with the coverage rate over 70 per cent. It is projected that this year Ningbo will open up ETC special lanes in another four toll stations in Moushan, Dayin, North of Ninghai (Xidian), South of Ninghai (Chalu).

"After networking, the 400 vehicles without updating the electronic label information cannot use ETC in other provinces in Yangtze River Delta except in Zhejiang." The staff working at ETC service spot in Ningbo expressway advises those car owners to update electronic label information as soon as possible, so as to avoid further inconvenience.
